Did you recently see an email about new WSOs and wondered what that was? Your WSO (worksite organizer) is a coworker that has volunteered and been trained to assist you in many ways.
WSOs take the lead in introducing new employees to their union and explaining the value of union membership and workplace solidarity.
Chief tasks of a WSO include:
· Welcoming new employees
· Communicating valuable information to coworkers
· Regularly updating the OSEA bulletin board and membership data
· Educating members on helpful union resources
Your WSO can help you with questions about your union, rights, benefits and contract. They have been trained to assist you in contacting chapter officers and your field representative. If you have a concern or grievance and don't know what to do or who to go to your WSO is a good person to contact.
Currently our WSOs are checking with members to make sure we have accurate contact information and talking with employees who have not filled out a membership card to help them sign up if they choose.
Our WSOs are:
Bellview: Lillian Toothman, Kitchen Manager
Walker: Lisa March, Head Custodian; Quentinn Macklin, Educational Assistant
